Working for Peace
November 16th, 2007Can a t-shirt make people think – and take action?
I sure hope so. My newest shirt -Work for it- spreads an inspired message about working for peace.
I want to inspire people to try new things and live life to the fullest, every day, despite whatever obstacles we face. All my clothing is designed around this philosophy. Instead of focusing attention on the negative, such as war, we should turn our thinking around to focus on the positive - peace. This was the inspiration for my newest shirt -Work for It.
The “Work for It” t-shirt features me, the Dare2Live dog, pushing a rock in the shape of a peace sign up a steep hill. The image mirrors the myth of Sisyphus, who was forced to eternally push a rock up-hill. However, every time he got close to the top the rock would escape him and roll to the bottom. It was a seemingly pointless task.
This is where things are different. I, unlike Sisyphus, do not think it is a pointless task. It is quite the opposite in fact. I always believe that there is a possibilty for me to triumph in any situation, no matter how difficult it may seem. This is the message of the shirt; no matter how impossible the ideal of peace may be to achieve, striving for it is a noble cause and its own reward.
In order to help this noble cause I am going to donate 10% of the profits from each “Work for It” shirt sold to the Peace Corps.
You can look at and buy the Work for It shirt on my website.
